Arriving in 1734, Salzburgers, a group of German speaking Protestants, received support from King George II, after being expelled from its home in the Catholic principality, in present day Austria. They were met by Oglethorpe, who assigned them a home on Ebenezer Creek. They were settlers from German speaking nations looking for religious freedom.

Highlandscots
Arriving from the highlands of Scotland in the early 1700's, this group of settlers came to help defend Georgia from Spanish invaders and to make a home for themselves. The settlers shared many characteristics with Native Americans they encountered. Scottish women were strong too and knew how to defend themselves. This helped when the men were away fighting.
